JKSSB Recruitment Notification Withdraws 6000 Posts Amid New Reservation Policy Implementation

Srinagar, June 23, 2024 – The Jammu and Kashmir Service Selection Board (JKSSB) has withdrawn approximately 6,000 job posts previously advertised for recruitment. This decision comes in the wake of the central government’s recent allocation of a ten percent reservation for the hill community in the region, as reported by the Edugraph.in Correspondent.

Impact on Youth and Departments

The anticipation among the youth of Jammu and Kashmir for government employment has been dealt a blow with this withdrawal. The positions affected span various departments, notably including:

  • Home Department: 752 police sub-inspectors and around 4,000 police constables.
  • Engineering Departments: 150 Junior Engineer (Civil) positions and about 200 electrical engineering roles.

These posts, initially referred to the JKSSB for the fiscal years 2022 to 2023, were withdrawn due to the need to align with the new reservation rules.

Reason for Withdrawal

The General Administration Department has mandated that all concerned departments finalize their reservation rules before these positions can be referred back to the JKSSB. This adjustment process is anticipated to take one to two months, delaying the issuance of new notifications until at least August.

JKSSB Chairman Rakesh Sharma confirmed, “All the posts have been withdrawn and will be re-referred following the establishment of the new reservation rules. Only then can the recruitment process proceed.”

Future Recruitment Plans

Despite the setback, there are developments in other recruitment areas:

  • Forest Department Recruitment: The recruitment process for Forest Guard and Forester positions is expected to commence by the end of July, beginning with a physical examination followed by a written test. Notifications for these roles were initially issued in 2022, but the recruitment process has been delayed.
  • District Judge Position Applications Extended: The deadline for applying for the District Judge position has been extended to July 15. The Jammu-Kashmir and Ladakh High Court’s Additional Registrar Administrative extended the initial June 5 deadline to allow more time for online applications.

While the withdrawal of 6,000 posts has temporarily halted the recruitment drive, the alignment with new reservation policies aims to ensure a fair and equitable process. The affected departments are expected to expedite the finalization of these rules to minimize delays and provide new opportunities for job seekers in Jammu and Kashmir.
