The Indian Air Force (IAF) has announced the recruitment for Agniveervayu under the Agnipath Scheme for the year 2024. This recruitment drive invites online applications from unmarried Indian male and female candidates. The aim of this scheme is to provide an opportunity for the nation’s youth to experience military life for a period of four years. Successful candidates will serve as Agniveervayu in the IAF but will not be considered for roles as commissioned officers, pilots, navigators, or airmen.

Eligibility criteria for IAF Agniveervayu Recruitment 2024

Age Criteria

• Date of Birth Block: Candidates born between 3rd July 2004 and 3rd January 2008 (both dates inclusive) are eligible to apply.
• Upper Age Limit: The upper age limit on the date of enrolment should be 21 years.

Marital Status and Pregnancy

• Marital Status: Only unmarried candidates (male and female) are eligible. They must undertake not to marry during the engagement period of four years.
• Pregnancy: Female candidates must undertake not to get pregnant during the engagement period. Any Agniveervayu who marries during the engagement period will be discharged.

Educational Qualifications

• Science Subjects: Candidates must have passed Intermediate/10+2/Equivalent examination with Mathematics, Physics, and English with at least 50% marks in aggregate and 50% marks in English.
  • OR Passed a three-year diploma course in engineering with at least 50% marks in aggregate and 50% marks in English.
  • OR Passed a two-year vocational course with non-vocational subjects (Physics and Mathematics) with at least 50% marks in aggregate and 50% marks in English.
• Other than Science Subjects: Candidates must have passed Intermediate/10+2/Equivalent examination in any stream/subjects with at least 50% marks in aggregate and 50% marks in English.
  • OR Passed a two-year vocational course with at least 50% marks in aggregate and 50% marks in English.

Mandatory medical standards

• Height: Minimum acceptable height for male candidates is 152.5 cm and for female candidates is 152 cm (with certain relaxations for candidates from specific regions).
• Weight: Proportionate to height and age.
• Chest: For male candidates, the minimum chest circumference should be 77 cm with at least 5 cm expansion. For female candidates, the chest should be well proportioned with at least 5 cm expansion.
• Hearing: Normal hearing ability to hear a forced whisper from a distance of 6 meters by each ear separately.
• Dental: Healthy gums, good set of teeth, and a minimum of 14 dental points.
• Visual Standards: Maximum limits of refractive error, and specific standards for corrected vision.

Candidates must also meet general health standards and should not have any medical or surgical disability. Female candidates will undergo a gynecological examination.

Terms and conditions of service

• Service Duration: Agniveervayu will be enrolled for a period of four years under the Air Force Act 1950.
• Post-Service Opportunities: Based on performance and organizational requirements, up to 25% of each batch may be offered enrollment in the regular cadre of the IAF.
• Training: Military training will be provided based on IAF requirements.
• Leave: 30 days of annual leave and sick leave based on medical advice.
• Medical and CSD Facilities: Entitlement to medical facilities at service hospitals and CSD provisions during the engagement period.

IAF Agniveer Vayu pay and benefits structure

• Monthly Pay: Rs. 30,000 per month with a fixed yearly increment.
• Allowances: Risk and Hardship allowances, Dress and Travel allowances, and perks such as ration, clothing, accommodation, and Leave Travel Concession (LTC).
• Seva Nidhi Package: A one-time package comprising the monthly contribution along with a matching contribution by the Government on completion of the engagement period.
• Insurance: Non-contributory Life Insurance cover of Rs. 48 lakhs during the engagement period.
